Ad-Hoc Games

Overview

These games are originally conceptualized or uniquely adapted by UGC members and tested in conjunction with Rules Councilors. No idea is too strange and some of our greatest games were once beta Ad-Hoc Games.

Tips for Creating Your Own Game

  1. Think of a format that forces players to interact with their surroundings and with each other in a new and interesting way.
  2. Write up a brief sample of what the game is all about. What are the goals? The teams? Brainstorm all parameters.
  3. Re-read and re-write. Try to analyze each rule and make sure the game is fair, balanced, and hard to exploit. Eliminate as much grey-area in the semantics of each rule.
  4. Show your rules to your friends. Other people might see problems or have more imput that you wouldn't of thought of on your own. Game creation depends on great collaboration and compromise!
