Battle Royale
Detailed RulesOverview
This game, an original creation by one of our very own UGC members, is based on the Japanese cult-classic film, "Battle Royale." Similar to the movie, the game releases participants into a large area divided up into zones. Teams of two are randomly assigned to each other, handed a bag of random weaponry, and provided with maps to mark their locations.
Game Details
Battle Royale is a game that forces players to improvise and make do with whatever circumstances arise. Some items, like a high-capacity dart blaster for instance, can be extremely helpful. Some other items, like a tiny foam dagger, are harder to use effectively in such a cutthroat competition. As time progresses in the game, zones are periodically turned into "dead zones." The playing space becomes smaller and smaller and participants are inevitably forced to engage each other in combat.
Depending on how they feel and what weapons they have at their disposal, players have many different strategies to choose from. For example, a player with a short-range weapon might be able to make up for the disadvantage by hiding and utilizing the element of surprise. Players that find themselves more heavily-armed might be better suited for the use of brute force in order to eliminate their competition.
In the end, Battle Royale is still all about who is left standing. Players are encouraged to use their smarts and take advantage of weapons left behind by fallen opponents. In Darwinian fashion, this game is about survival of the fittest!
