Elections occuring 4/19/10

Posted by Filipe Fernandes on Tuesday, April 13th at 9:38pm

Hello all,

The elections for the Urban Gaming Club will be occurring Monday the 19th, in 60 Willard at 8pm. Those who are being elected are able to speak to members about why they should in the positions they are running for, things they would do, and give an opportunity for members to ask questions. Ballots will be provided for voting, they will be tallied up, and we will announce the winners.

I’m not going to sugar-coat this, it will be a long process. However, it is an important one in order to for everyone to have an even chance. I should hope you will come and stay on your own volition, but I will also have food available to sweeten the deal.

Candidates who are unable to be at the entirety of the meeting will be given priority to speak, and those who cannot make it at all will be able to create a written/video/audio/etc statement to be given to members for consideration. If you fall within any of these categories, let me know via private message, so I can plan accordingly.

Volunteer for the Spring UP Day of Service

Posted by Martin Castner on Friday, March 26th at 4:02am

Spring UP is on April 17 from 9:30am-3:00pm. Volunteers meet at the Hintz Alumni Center where there will be food and a brief speaker. Then, they will go off with an OPP worker to spruce up campus. This includes working at the recycling center, and planting trees and flowers around campus. At the end of the day, all are welcome to come back for more free food!

Fil mentioned this event at one of our meetings. He thinks it would be a great way for our club to help out, and make up for the damage we can sometimes cause to campus. I must agree! I was originally hoping to get a group of about 10 or 15 people, but Fil says we need to shoot for 50. So…the more the merrier!

If you would like to sign up and help out, please do so a.s.a.p. Here is the link to the volunteer sign-up site: http://volunteer.psu.edu/
If you scroll down on the main page, you’ll see Spring UP at the bottom of the list of events. Click the link for it, sign up, and voila! Also, if you do sign up, post a comment here with your Penn State email address. That way, I can tell the woman in charge to put us all in one group. Thanks so much!

Thanks to Kristen G-laser for finding this info.
